I chose Garnier's Nourishing Foam (Permanent) in Iridescent Mahogany which has a nice red tint to it. I found the foam so easy to use and it took me about 10 minutes to apply it fully all over my hair, just like I apply shampoo as the instructions say. It says it should be left on for 30 minutes but on the advice of my friend who dyes her hair a lot, I left it on for an extra 5 minutes. It says that this dye has a 'Fruity Scent' LIE! It smells horrible and gave me a bit of a headache during the 35 minutes but once it was off the headache faded. I would highly recommend this to anyone who hasn't dyed their hair before because it is so easy!
Left; Before. Right; After
Just to start, I didn't change the length of my hair, I took the 'After' picture today in natural light so you can see the change better. As you can see there is only a little difference in the two, my hair is a little lighter and has more of a red tint too it now. In hindsight I wish I had picked up the red shade instead of mahogany so it was a bit more noticeable but as I said, in 6 weeks I will be changing it big time! hahaaaaa!

it looks really nice, for future reference though don't use garnier, their colours are shit. The L'oreal ones are far better, especially for colours like mahogany. (: x
ReplyDeleteHow long is your hair!? Jeesh, I'm jealous.
ReplyDeleteThe colour is so lovely!
& oh God, I can't remember what the hair dye was that I used the other week, and the conditioner that came with it absolutely reeked. It was SO bad. Seriously, you think they'd make it smell nice.
You've made me want to dye my hair again now hehe xxx
That looks lovely, i've never had any problems with L'oreal home dyes [in reference to the above comment]. I've been using home dyes for the past four years and they are one of the better ones out there. But yeah i've never had a nice smelling hair dye.
ReplyDeleteLove your new background too btw!
I am yet to find a home dye that smells as good as it says ;)
ReplyDeleteI have had every colour hair you can imagine but I haven't dyed it myself for years. I'm having foils in a few weeks though.
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks great.

ReplyDeleteI like the colour looks nice :) xx
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I've never dyed my hair, but I have gone from chest length hair to short bobs and that's always an exciting change!

looks nice! new follower, can't wait to catch up on your posts :)
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great! I've never dyed my hair either, but for now I don't intend to, cause I really like my hair color. What color are you doing next? I'm excited to see the big change :)

Aww, it looks really lovely, and it's probably for the best that you chose not to change it too drastically for the first attempt, I made that mistake for my first home-dyeing experiment and it didn't end well! xx
ReplyDeleteYour hair is lovely, I haven't dyed my hair yet, the roots put me off. For a first time dying it's good you didn't go too different! My mum uses Garnier all the time to dye hers and she loves it, she uses the blondes.
