Viva Lash Vegas!

As you may or may not already know, I love mascara! It is my most essential part of my make up collection and is probably worn the most out of everything. I was excited to see that Barry M had come out with a new, higher end looking mascara, compared to some of their others.
Lash Vegas retails for £6.49 which is currently their most expensive in their mascara line. I have to say it is so worth the price, I love it! It claims to give you 'Big Showgirl lashes' to keep up the Vegas theme and I have to say it really works. With just one coat my lashes are big, bold and long which is pretty much Vegas lashes all in one go. It's almost like wearing some falsies.
My only grudge with this mascara is that it is quite a wet consistency but that's something I can live with for the results it gives.

Clinique High Impact Mascara!

I'm currently on a little mission to shop my stash because it is massive! I have bought so much make up over the last few months that its about time I started using it all up. I started using the Clinique high impact mascara recently after my last mascara ran out, I am annoyed at myself that I didn't start using it earlier because it is amazing! Clinique claim that this mascara is a "multi benefit mascara that adds maximum volume with definition and length effortlessly" I agree to an extent. At £16 for a full sized tube it's pretty good value for a high end brand and I completely agree with the maximum definition and length which you may be able to see from the above picture, my lashes look super long and defined after just one coat. I find that this mascara really opens up my eyes and would be perfect for creating a doll eyed effect if it was layered a few more times. I don't feel like the lashes are showing "maximum" volume, perhaps with more coats it would but I think two is enough for me! The brush is pretty thick which helps to separate the lashes so there are no awkward joined together lashes or massive clumps, what more do you need!?  
Clinique's high impact mascara is available online and in most boots, debenhams and house of Fraser stores at their clinique counters for around £16.

Hey, Sailor!

MAC's "Hey, Sailor!" collection is something I have been pining over since the day it hit the high street. Like most beauty obsessed girls I love a bit of MAC and like most girls in general I love the nautical theme so when MAC laun.ched their own nautical themed make up collection I just had to  buy something. I had a £10 debenhams voucher to spend so off I went to get me some MAC The products I chose were the eyeshadow in 'Nautical Navy' and a suntint in 'Abalone'


'Nautical Navy' is a lovely navy blue shade (obviously) which is highly pigmented with the slightest shimmer to it which is the nicest colour to use when creating a smoky look on the eyelid. It could be created by using this shade lightly and building it up to change the colour. The  suntint in 'Abalone' is going to be the perfect addition to my holiday make up bag (post on that soon?) as it contains SPF20 which will protect my lips from the sun! Despite it being in a tube the tint is far from sticky which I love and it leaves a really nice pinky colour to the lips, along the "my lip colour but better!" line. The eye shadow was £12.50 and the lip suntint was £11.50, I paid £14 for the lot

Bourjois 123 Perfect foundation Review!

I haven't really bought into the Bourjois brand, not sure why but I just tend to brush past it when I'm in boots or superdrug. That was until I heard numerous bloggers rave about the 123 perfect foundation. Bourjois claim that this foundation contains three colour correcting pigments, a yellow to conceal dark circles, Mauve to add radiance and green to neutralise redness which all together "correct and conceal all blemishes" as well as SPF10, anti-shine and 24 hour hydration. Now I am going to start off by saying it doesn't cover "all" blemishes but it does a good job covering a nice amount, I'd say it falls into a medium coverage bracket. Although it doesn't cover all blemishes it certainly does dull the redness and make them less noticeable which is always a good thing. The foundation is super easy to apply, I put two pumps on the back of my hand and use my ELF flat top powder brush to buff it into my skin. It's safe to say that this could become my new holy grail foundation because it does two things I love, it doesn't dry out my skin and it doesn't make my skin look oily or shiny just like it claims! When I have this foundation on my face instantly looks more awake and bright which is nice when underneath it I am a sleepy, dull faced mess! I've had my bottle for around a month now and I'm not even half way through it. All in all a very good foundation, I'd say it is definitely worth the £10.99 price tag.

Enrapture Amplify Jumbo Waver - Review!

Enrapture are a brand that has been featured on many different people's blogs or youtube channels for, probably their most popular product, the encode totem styler which from the reviews sounds rather amazing. However, I feel that it somewhat over shadows the jumbo waver. I am, like most girls, a massive fan of the 'beachy waves' and it is a style I have been trying to perfect with my GHDs for a year and always failing to get the look I want and of course taking up a lot of time attempting it. When I started seeing reviews of the totem styler appearing I decided to do a little research into enrapture products and was automatically drawn to the jumbo waver. I plucked up the courage to walk into Argos (also available on amazon and in debenhams, boots, next) and depart with just under £70 in return for the jumbo waver. I was like an excited child at Christmas when I got home, unpacking it from some very stylish packaging  (whilst taking pictures for blogging purposes) and plugging it straight in for a test. It.Is.Amazing. It takes about a minute (or less, I haven't really timed it) to warm up fully as I have it on the highest heat setting and gets to work waving your hair in mere seconds. The waver comes with a booklet with advice on how to create perfect wavy styles, immediately struck by the boho waves. It takes me around 10 minutes to wave my entire head and I am someone with fairly long, thick hair so that's not bad considering. I section my hair into 1 to 2 inch sections and clamp the waver over sections for around 5 seconds before moving down the hair. I was a little worried at first that this would end up looking like I had crimped my hair like you do/did when you were about 10 and going to a school disco however, the waves came out perfectly and just how I wanted them to look. The harder you clamp the more defined the waves are so it can be adjusted to suit the style you are going for. This has been my go to hair styler since I bought it, so much so that I have packed up my GHD's into their carry case and pushed them to the back so this has pride of place on my chest of drawers. I highly, highly recommend this to you all, I haven't actually tried the totem styler but I would pick this over it, if I can even have that opinion..

MAC 'Pinch O' Peach' Blush!

Wow, Oh, Wow! This is the first ever Mac blush I have owned and boy am I glad its a permanent fixture in their range. 'Pinch O' Peach' is a sheertone powder blush that looks like a real bright pink and a little daunting in the pan yet applies light and peachy on the cheeks and can be built up easily to create a shade closer to the shade in the pan. Peach tones are definitely my favourites when it comes to blushes and despite this not looking very peachy it is fast becoming my favourite blush in my collection. The blush is super pigmented so in my honest opinion less is more, unless the whole "I've just ran a marathon and that's why my cheeks are bright pink look is your kind of thing, so when applying I suggest lightly dabbing your blush brush in the pan once or twice rather than swirling it around and packing product onto the brush! 
I highly, highly recommend this to each and every one of you who don't already own this blush, it retails at £17.50 I believe which is a little pricey but it is so worth it! 


Out of curiosity, do any of you have any recommendations for a decent curling wand that allows you to do loose, beachy waves? Leave them below please, I'm on the market for a new one!

The Beauty Blogger Bandwagon!

It happens to all of us, we scroll through blogs we love and read many reviews of products that have been raved about by bloggers. They get us interested in a product and soon enough we are at the shop buying it, trying it and reviewing it ourselves. Within a couple of weeks products are everywhere across the bloggersphere and become the next best thing until the next one comes along. So here I am, waiting for the beauty bandwagon to roll past so I can hop on.

1. Collection 2000 cream puff lip cream in 'Cotton Candys' 2. Collection 2000 Lasting perfection concealer in '1 - Fair' 3. Revlon lip butters in 'Cotton Candy' and 'Cupcake' 4. Models Own x Headkandi nail varnish in 'Ibiza Mix'

These recent purchases is my way of gracefully leaping onto the beauty blogger bandwagon after seeing numerous amounts of reviews on them on various blogs. Guess what, I'm going to review them! (Bet you weren't expecting that)

1. So I'm a bit behind on the collection 2000 craze on the cream puff lip products and the lasting perfection concealer but I'm here now and I am loving them both! I would say the cream puff lip cream sits somewhere between a gloss and a lipstick, there needs to be more of these around because they are so good. It doesn't have the typical stickiness of a lipgloss which is a bonus for those windy days. The colours are fairly similar and limited to pinks but they are nice, I'd buy more. 2. When people said this concealer was their holy grail I wasn't so sure but as soon as I swatched this it was the perfect shade. I used it on a small section of my face and it covered the blemishes amazingly. It's limited to 2 or 3 shades which is a shame but it's cheap and it works like a dream. 3. Lip butters have been around the bloggersphere for the longest time as it took so long for them to be released over here in the UK. I'm so glad they did because I love them. The range of shades is vast which means there is a colour to suit everyone. I feel like they just melt onto your lips, leaving a sheer colour and a lot of moisture. Amazing. 4. I have wanted a thick glitter polish for ages and when the models own 'Ibiza Mix' rocks up over blogs I had to have it. It works perfect worn over any colour due to the range of coloured glitters in the bottle so its versatile and so pretty!

'Stackers' Review

A few weeks ago I was out shopping because pay day always makes me want to spend money on things I really don't need. However, when having a rare browse around John Lewis I came across a Jewellery box range called 'Stackers.' This is a form of 'create your own' jewellery box which comes in different sizes, small and large and range between £9 - £30 depending on the size and the part of the box you buy. You can get the top of the box, with a closable lid, to hold rings and earrings and the middle sections to hold the rest of the jewellery. You can buy as many sections as you need and essentially stack them together to make it as tall or small as you want. The range comes in a fair few colours so they are bound to fit any room! 

This is the small centre part I ended up buying and an example of how to use it to store jewellery in, it cost £9 which I think is pretty good price wise.

This is what I actually use my stackers section for. I keep it on my make up table and keep all my bobby pins, hair bands and clear elastics in because I am forever loosing them. I have been looking for something to store them in for ages so I decided that this is pretty perfect. So basically, even if this is made for jewellery you could pretty much store anything you wanted in it.

17 Miracle Matte Foundation Rave!

I really haven't heard much about this foundation on the blogging scene so first off I would just like to thank/blame Lucy for me rushing out to purchase this product after I read her review on it. 


Now onto my thoughts, as you may be able to tell from the 'Rave' part in the title I really like this foundation and here is why.. Lets start with the packaging shall we? It's pink with girly writing on it, it looks cute and that's an immediate package winner in my books. The 17 Miracle matte foundation is a liquid foundation with a thicker consistency, it contains SPF 15 which is super useful to help protect the skin against discolouration of acne scars (which I am doomed with) and it is also oil free, bonus! The pump on the bottle has a small opening which allows small amounts of product out with each pump, this helps to reduce waste of the foundation. The shade range is limited to six shades, I think, but I hope that as its a new product 17 will begin to produce more shades if popularity increases so more people can use it. I am the shade fair and it is a perfect match for my skin tone, that makes me happy. I use 1 and a half to 2 pumps of foundation and my sigma stippling brush to apply the foundation which blends easily and gives a really nice finish, the consistency is a little thicker than other liquid foundations but it feels so light on the skin. It has amazing staying power too, unless you want it off of course, I wore this to college on Tuesday when I was in the gym for an hour doing circuits and it did not budge at all. When taking the foundation off at the end of the day it comes off nice and easy with a splash of water alone and using a makeup remover means its all gone, less scrubbing and irritation to the face. For all of these reasons and the fact it is only £5.99 (currently £4.99 as an introductory price in boots) this is my new holy grail foundation!

Maybelline Lipstain Review!

I was first introduced to lipstains when I picked up a covergirl one when I was in Chicago last year and had really liked using it. I only discovered the Maybelline Colour Sensational lip stains a month or so ago (yes, I've had this post planned for ages) and was happy to see that lipstains had made it over here, because as a lot of you know, here in the UK we get left out of a lot of good make up releases! (boo.) I believe the colour sensational lipstain line is made up of 6 shades, which I own 5 of. They retail at £5.99 each but I bought all of mine when they were part of 3 for 2 or buy one get one half price deals at boots and superdrug. I think they are worth the price tag as they have a shade for all occasions that will suit everyone as the colours are able to be built up to go from a light colour to a darker version of the initial shade. The colour payoff lasts a lot longer than a traditional lipstick as you may have guessed from them being a stain which means there is no real need to be reapplying it all the time, especially if you have built up the colour as by the end of the day it would have faded to a lighter shade instead of disappearing all together. I have tested this by swatching it on my hand and seeing how long it lasts with me washing my hands during the day and I still had a faint line left on my hand by the end of the day. Weirdly I think they smell and taste a little fruity but that may just be me.. I tend to reach for one of these lipstains more often then I would a lipstick as most of the time I forget to reapply during the day, with these I can apply it once and have no need to reach for it again during the day. Right now Maybelline cosmetics are 3 for 2 on the boots website and I think probably in store as well so you are able to get three of the six shades for just under £12!

Vivo Baked Blush Review!

When I first heard Tesco had released another of their own Make Up brands all those months ago I have to admit I was a little sceptical because its Tesco and they are a supermarket, not a beauty retailer. I decided, after reading many reviews on various people's blogs, that I would hop in my car and drive the all of 5 minutes over the road to my local (and gigantic) tesco and see what all the fuss was about. The first thing to catch my eye were the baked blushes and I am so glad they did. 

L-R: Peaches & Cream (Shade 1), Rosy (Shade 2), Cinnamon Glow (Shade 3), Rouge Shimmer (Shade 4).

These are the only four baked blush shades available in the range and I had to buy all four coming in at £4 each. Compared to a lot of "drugstore" brands I think £4 is quite reasonable for a blush that size. Rosy and Rouge Shimmer are quite bright pinky shades where as Peaches & Cream is more of a, well peachy colour. I personally think that Cinnamon Glow could be used as a light bronzer if it is built up enough as it has more bronze tones to it than a blush.

Here are some swatches so you can see what the shade pay off is from each of the blushes. When you first pick up the blush it looks like it contains a tonne of shimmer but when you actually apply it there is very little to no shimmer on your face which I think is really nice.

Shade 1 - 

Peaches & Cream

This is one of my favourite shades to use. It gives a really nice warm glow to the cheeks. I have never owned a blush this colour before but I love it.

Shade 2 -

Rosy

Another favourite of mine which I have recently started to use a little more. It gives a really nice colour pay off with only the smallest amount of product.

Shade 3 - 

Cinnamon Glow

I am yet to try this blush out apart from swatching it on my hand. I can't wait to try this out as a light bronzer as I am not a huge fan of proper bronzers. This will be a great replacement.

Shade 4 - 

Rouge Shimmer

This one has more red undertones in the veining of the blush and it honestly so pretty on the skin. It will give a beautiful rosy red blush on the cheeks which is perfect for the winter season. 

The Vivo range also has a tonne of 'Baked' eyeshadow colours, single and in pallet form which I am debating trying out in the future. If you are from the UK and live near a Tesco and haven't tried the Vivo range or even the blushes out before I highly recommend that you do because personally I love them and they have easily slipped their way into my every day routine. ELF Stippling Brush - Review

I received a request on my ELF Haul to do a little review on the stippling brush that I purchased so I am! I have to start off by saying that any of you die hard ELF fans may need to 'X' out of this post because it's going to be negative! 

This is the picture off the ELF website of what I thought the brush would look like. When I actually received the brush it was less rounded and more wide and flat! (If my camera wasn't dead I would be able to show you this, sorry!) First impressions left me a little disappointed. When I eventually got round to trying the brush out it did not stipple. Simple as that. I tried to stipple it on my face and it acted more like a big foundation brush, It didn't keep its shape it just spread out. Coverage from my sigma brush looks almost flawless, using this brush my skin looked awful to the point that I stopped using it and used my sigma brush instead. I have to say this brush is super soft but I'm afraid that's just not good enough for the function of this brush! This brush costs only £3.50 so I guess you really do get what you pay for in this case. Don't get me wrong, I really do like most ELF brushes, but this one was not a good choice. Sorry ELF, I love you and everything but I am not a fan of this brush.

Lumiere Cosmetics Review

A little while back Lumiere Cosmetics were reaching out to Bloggers over their Twitter page, offering us a chance to review some of their products. All of the Lumiere products are mineral based which is quite good for the skin as the lightness of the powder allows the skin to breathe. They are an American based company but do ship to the UK and their products are bargainous! I contacted them and was sent seven samples which consisted of 2 foundations, 2 blush and 3 eye pigments. They chose the pigment shades with the use of a questionnaire that they had emailed to me and I must say, they were pretty spot on!

Bottom Row, L-R: Soft Brown, Ditto, Espresso. 

Lets start with the foundations. The two I received were both in the 'Light Medium Beige' category and the two shades were 'Cashmere' and 'Luminesse' with luminesse being slightly darker than cashmere. If I didn't suffer from acne I would definitely be using this on a regular basis however I do feel like I need a lot more coverage. The shades are literally like my skin colour in a pot which is lovely! They apply really well and look so nice, If you have nice skin that doesn't require full coverage then these would be perfect for you. Full size prices range from $12 for a Large pot - $18 for a XLarge pot.
Currently I have a slight obsession with blushes so when I saw the shades 'Neutral Pink' and 'Fresh Rose' I was very happy! My favourite has to be 'Neutral Pink' which is so wearable and gives a beautiful natural pink colour to the cheeks. I feel that the 'Fresh Rose' colour is a shade that needs to be built up as it can come out a bit bright. Both are very pigmented and very pretty shades. Full size price is $12 and will last you a lifetime.
Finally, my favourites, the eye pigments! Lumiere have picked the three best colours ever, all of them are super pigmented and apply so easily! Even better is that they can all be worn together as a combination. 'Ditto' is a really nice neutral cream colour which I would use as a highlight. 'Soft Brown' is exactly as its named, its a buildable colour so I can be as light or dark as you would like. I would wear this colour over the lid quite lightly. 'Espresso' is my favourite shade of the three. It has a subtle blue glitter mixed into the colour and it is so freaking pretty! I use this colour on the outer third of my eyelid. Full size price is $8.
Overall, Lumiere products are such good value for money and are very pigmented. On their website they offer a range of foundation shades for all different skin types as well as shadows, eye pigments, pallets, liners, lip products and so much more! So get yourselves over there are take a look around, I guarantee they will have something suitable for you!

Batiste Dry Shampoo Review

I just want to start of by saying me and Batiste have a serious love, hate relationship. I always tend to find one product that I absolutely adore  because it works so well but then there is always something that doesn't. This pair is no different. 
Now most girls own or have owned some dry shampoo for those days where your hair is looking a little greasy and needs that little pick me up. Batiste is a range that I normally reach for when I am in need of a new dry shampoo but this time, like all the others, I managed to pick up on version that I love and one version that I hate. 
Starting with the bad. When I first saw that Batiste had brought out another new version I was quite excited to try it out especially when it claims to give you 'Big and bouncy XXL volume.' I have honestly never been so disappointed in a product. I hate when your hair gets a bit greasy it is so lifeless so when I saw this I thought brilliant, this could be useful. The first, and only, time I used it my hair was anything but 'Big and bouncy' and there was not even a hint of 'XXL volume.' My hair looked and felt like straw! It was horrible. My hair looked worse with the use of this dry shampoo then it did before hand. I have pushed this product to the back of my hair products, never to be used again. 
Now every cloud has a silver lining and the dry shampoo with a hint of colour for 'Medium and Brunette' is that silver lining for batiste. Unlike the XXL volume version this on does not make my hair feel like straw! (Hooray!) I love the fact it has a hint of colour, especially as I have dark hair, because it doesn't leave that whiteness in your hair like a normal dry shampoo, it just completely blends in with a darker hair colour. Another thing is that if you spray on small parts of your hair at the roots and massage it in slightly it gives you some volume without even claiming to do it, Bonus! They also have a 'hint of colour' for blonde hair and for red/ginger hair too I believe so I recommend it to you all!

Barry M 'Foil' polish! CNL + Review

Yesterday I went to Superdrug and picked up the two 'foil' polishes from the Barry M collection. I had a few people say that they wanted to see what they look like on and my nail varnish needed changing so I figured I would try out the newbies. Yes, both of them. 

I have been waiting for Barry M to release this range of polishes for a while and I LOVE these! I found that they apply so easily and have a thick consistency, they also dry quite quickly which is a bonus. The picture above is after just one coat, ONE! and it looks perfectly fine, no streaks just a lovely colour payback. If any of you were umm-ing and ahh-ing about getting these polishes, DO IT!  Go ahead! They are £3.99 which is bargainous for a nail effect polish plus its 3 for 2 in superdrug so you could get both of them and another one for Free! I think these are a lot better than the top shop version of the 'foil' range.

Another nail related product I wanted to mention was the Sally Hansen moisturising nail polish remover for dry and brittle nails (mine). This is probably the best polish remover I have ever used. One thing I like most about this is the fact it doesn't have an overpowering smell that gives you a headache. It also really does moisturise the nails, they didn't feel dry after I used it. It also contains Aloe Vera which soothes them. Yay!

Billy Elliot (The Musical)

Last night I hopped on a train down to London with my mum and dad to go and see Billy Elliot The Musical, which was a birthday present for my mum from me and my dad.
Overall I thought that it was a very good show, it made me laugh, when Billy and his friend Michael (who likes dressing up in womens clothes) had thier big dancing/singing number with lifesize dresses (!) and nearly cry thanks to Billy reading a letter to his mum, who had died. The musical was very real to the original film which is always good but of course being a big theater production there were a lot more random singing and dancing parts with Billy that had little to do with the film, more just showing off what the little boy could do!
The majority of the cast where young children and I have to say they were bloody talented kids. How they can remember thier lines, dance moves and the songs I don't know.  The youngest child in the show must have been about five, he was adorable. One thing that made me wince a little bit was the language some of the younger cast members were using, saying words they shouldn't have heard of at that age but I suppose it was just their way of representing what life was like for people during mid 1980s and the minors strike ectt..

All in all, a very good show and I would say if you are debating whether to see this or not, you should! If you haven't seen the original film already then go and rent it or buy it because its a really good film!

Review: Topshop Make Up

So around a month ago I saw a review on the topshop make up range by Fleur De Force on her youtube channel and decided to try them out for myself. The topshop in my local shopping centre had a fairly good selection so I took my time choosing the products I wanted. I picked up 8 items (i got a brush too but forgot to include it in the picture.fail.) which came to around £50 which isn't too bad, I think? I decided that a good way to start off the beauty side of my blog is by doing a little review of the products I chose.

1. Lipstick in Nevada. £8: I quite like this lipstick, I had been looking for a pinky nude lipstick for a looong time and when I found this one I had to have it! I have worn it a couple of times and found that the colour fades slightly during the day, but then again so do a lot of lipsticks. Recently I have started wearing this with a tiny bit of Barry M's lipgloss in No.4, creates such a lovely colour.

2. Lip Glaze in Bubblegum. £6: A new favourite in my lipgloss collection. Its such a pretty colour and smells looovelyy! Thankfully its not a majorly sticky lipgloss and its pigmented enough for you to wear it alone but you would definitely need to put it in your bag cause you will need to reapply 3 or 4 times during the day.

3. Lipstick in Show Off. £8: This is one lipstick that i picked up, thought it looked like a really nice colour, tried it on when I got home and thought "I can't wear this on its own" maybe its because I never used to wear lipstick but it just looked too intense! So to try and tame it down I put the Bubblegum lipgloss on over the top, problem solved!

4. Nail Varnish in AWOL. £5: I love this nail varnish! I've worn it a few times and its staying power is great, after about a week it starts to chip away slightly but that’s fine with me. The consistency of this polish was fairly good, quite thick if shook well but it takes around 2 coats to make the colour look its best.

5. Nail Varnish in Parma Violet. £5: You're going to think I'm mad but I didn't like this polish. For some reason the consistency was super watery and it took like 4-5 coats to make the colour look good and it chipped quite quickly. I don't know if i had a dud but it was nothing like AWOL. Did not like, at all. 

6. Cream Blush in Head Over Heals. £6: This is a very pigmented blush in a light coral colour. I have used this a couple of times but I have to say I'm a powder blush girl at heart. I found it a bit awkward to blend properly but I did really love the colour and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a cream blush, who is used to using them! Coral was for sure the colour of the summer season so it was very fitting but I will be putting it away for the autumn.

7. Cheek Highlighter in Prism. £10: This product is described as a "Multi use cream stick to add colour and highlight face and body" it also says you can use it on your lips as a lip colour which i have not tried & have no intention of ever trying. However, using it as a cheek highlighter I have tried & have loved! It gives you a nice definition along your cheek bones and because of the golden bronzey colour (great discription) it gives you a really natural highlight.

8. Concealer brush. £5: For a good quality make up brush, £5 is actually quite reasonable. I use this every single day for applying my concealer (obviously char..) and it has served me well since I got it. The topshop brushes are sooo soft which I love and I feel that I will be getting more brushes in the near future.

Overall I think the quality, price and selection of the Topshop make up are extremely reasonable for being a sort of "not quite drugstore but not quite high end" range (if anyone has a name for that, please let me know) I recommend you try a few products out, whether its the ones I have mentioned or completely different ones because it is a very good range!
