January Favourites!

This is the first favourites post of 2012, this will be the first year that I will do all 12 favourites post too! This month's favourites are a mixed range of products, unlike previous ones which just consisted of beauty. As I am on a spending ban I haven't really found any new favourites in the beauty world.
1. Mint choc chip lip balm, 2. Juicy Couture perfume, 3. Garnier Fructis Flexihold hairspray, 4. Clinique liquid facial soap, 5. Barry M 'Toffee' Lipgloss

1. In a previous favourites post I declared my love for mint chocolate chip chewing gum however since getting braces I can no longer have chewing gum. I needed a new lip balm because mine had gone gross, when I came across a Mint Chocolate chip one in paperchase of all places I just had to have it to fill the void left from my chewing gum being taken away from me. Plus its really moisturising and tastes lovely!
2. The juicy couture perfume was a gift from my boyfriends parents for Christmas. It has a musky winter scent to it which smells soo nice! I associate it with winter and have been wearing it every single day since I got it and will probably still being wearing it through spring. It's a really lovely smell and just one spray lasts nearly all day.Bonus.
3. Hairspray is something I haven't used a great deal of before but recently I have been styling my hair in different ways that require hairspray to keep it fixed. The flexihold hairspray is great because its really light, smells amazing and brushes out leaving no oily or greasy residue behind. I think its only about £3 which is pretty good for a can that size.
4. I keep the clinique liquid facial soap in my shower and that tends to be the only time I use it. I received this product as part of a 'gift with purchase' and I really like it. I lathers up really nicely and you only need a pea sized amount to wash your face with. My face actually feels so clean after I use it which is great. One thing I don't like is the smell, it is not great smelling.
5. I am a big fan of the Barry M brand mostly for their nail varnish however I recently branched out into trying their lipglosses. The first one I chose was the 'toffee' shade, it is a beautiful nude toffee colour, it smells like toffee, with the smallest of shimmer in it. It applies really well and it doesn't stick, no one likes a sticky lipgloss! In the tube it looks really shimmery but when it is actually applied you can hardly tell it has shimmer in it but it still looks lovely. I have heard a couple of people compare these to MAC's dazzleglass lipglosses which I can see the resemblance, plus Barry M is a whole lot cheaper than a MAC gloss. I need more Barry M lipglosses in my collection.

Top 5 Series: Eyeshadows!

It's Wednesday, that means its Top 5 time again! Part 4 of the series and this week I am talking eyeshadows. From pallets to singles I'm covering them all.

This is a matte peachy pink colour from the MUA Pretty Pastels pallet which I really love wearing in the summer, with the darker pink next to it. It is so light and applies really nicely, used with a primer it lasts practically all day when I'm not rubbing my eyes. I am a huge fan of MUA eyeshadows because they are such good quality and at bargainous prices, I'm pretty sure everyone owns at least one item from MUA and knows what I'm talking about as they seem to be highly recommended in the blogging world.
Sorry about the blurry picture, my camera did not want to photograph it the product. This is Barry M's dazzle dust in a bronze colour (103?) which is great for lightly applying over a similar coloured matte shadow to add a little sparkle on a night out. It contains very fine glitters which shimmer instead of make you look like a 5 year old wearing glitter to a birthday party. I think I may have to get some more of these in the future.
Rimmel London came out with a selection of colour mousse eyeshadows which I had never thought of trying before, putting mousse on your eyelids, that can't work. I was wrong, it really does work! Initially it feels a little weird because it takes some time to dry and set but it gives off such a nice colour and lasts a really long time when worn with a primer. The one I own is a nice champagne colour in 005 'Glitz' my favourite of the collection.

I am a huge fan of neutral colours, they are my most worn and most reached for shades. Obviously the Naked pallet by Urban Decay is full of neutral colours but my favourite shade of the pallet is 'Half Baked'. Half Baked is a pretty golden shimmery colour which looks great worn alone as well as with a paler matte colour from the pallet. The naked pallet is one of my most used pallets so I would say it is worth the £35 price tag. However, despite all the amazing reviews on the Naked2 pallet, I am still not buying it! (This can be used in evidence of my weakness if I do end up buying it)
For Christmas I got my first ever MAC pallet which has become my little project. One of the shadows that I got for Christmas was 'Naked Lunch' It is a tiny bit darker than in the picture (my camera loves flash) It is a really pretty matte taupe colour which a lot of the time I used as my lid colour. I find that it really brightens up the eyes and makes you look more awake if it is applied in the corner of the eye. If anyone has any eyeshadow recommendations from MAC then let me know, I'm planning on asking for a couple for my birthday.

Another Top 5 series down, next up is Mascara, I think. Let me know if you have tried any of these products or what your favourite eyeshadows are in the comments!

January Glossybox!

Sorry that this post is going up a little late, I have spent most of my afternoon putting together a flat packed drawer unit from Ikea all by myself. I am oddly proud that I succeeded to get it together and up the stairs without breaking something or injuring myself. It's made up part of my new make up storage area, if anyone would like to see the end result then let me know and I would be more than happy to show you (once my bookcase has been moved & things have been dismantled to suit my new layout)

Anyway, on with the Glossybox.. First off I would like to thank the postman who decided to throw my glossybox over the back wall because I wasn't in, luckily nothing was broken but even so, that is not cool! I wasn't sure if I would even get this months box seen as it is nearly February and It still hadn't arrived but it did and I was quite happy with it.
This months box was bright pink, my favourite type of pink, which had something to do with it being valentines day related. It was a nice surprise to see a bright 'special edition' box this month instead of the normal pale pink.
A quick overview of what is inside my glossybox this month.. Clarins extra firming day cream & extra firming night cream, Murad hybrids skin perfecting primer, FAB Gentle body wash and Eyeko skinny eyeliner. I am most looking forward to trying out the eyeliner, body wash and the night cream. I will do a review post in a couple of weeks to let you know my thoughts on the products and see if there is anything that surprises me.

Maybelline Lipstain Review!

WARNING: PICTURE HEAVY POST!
L-R: Tender Rose, Wink of Pink, Shy Red, Blushing, Plum Flushed.
I was first introduced to lipstains when I picked up a covergirl one when I was in Chicago last year and had really liked using it. I only discovered the Maybelline Colour Sensational lip stains a month or so ago (yes, I've had this post planned for ages) and was happy to see that lipstains had made it over here, because as a lot of you know, here in the UK we get left out of a lot of good make up releases! (boo.) I believe the colour sensational lipstain line is made up of 6 shades, which I own 5 of. They retail at £5.99 each but I bought all of mine when they were part of 3 for 2 or buy one get one half price deals at boots and superdrug. I think they are worth the price tag as they have a shade for all occasions that will suit everyone as the colours are able to be built up to go from a light colour to a darker version of the initial shade. The colour payoff lasts a lot longer than a traditional lipstick as you may have guessed from them being a stain which means there is no real need to be reapplying it all the time, especially if you have built up the colour as by the end of the day it would have faded to a lighter shade instead of disappearing all together. I have tested this by swatching it on my hand and seeing how long it lasts with me washing my hands during the day and I still had a faint line left on my hand by the end of the day. Weirdly I think they smell and taste a little fruity but that may just be me.. I tend to reach for one of these lipstains more often then I would a lipstick as most of the time I forget to reapply during the day, with these I can apply it once and have no need to reach for it again during the day. Right now Maybelline cosmetics are 3 for 2 on the boots website and I think probably in store as well so you are able to get three of the six shades for just under £12!
Here are some awkward lip shots so you can see what the lipstains look like on..
Tender Rose
Wink of Pink
Shy Red
Blushing
Plum Flushed
I hope you found this little review useful, I am now off to clear out my room, wash my make up brushes and continue working on my best friends birthday present! As always, leave any questions/requests in the comments below and I will get back to you ASAP.

CNL: Mermaid To Order

I haven't done a Current Nail Look in ages so I figured next time I paint my nails I would do one. Today is that day! I must apologise for the rubbish pictures, my camera was running out of battery and kept freezing and turning off. not cool.

'Mermaid To Order' is my all time favourite OPI nail varnish colour. It changes from blue to teal to turquoise to green depending on the light its in. So freaking pretty!

On the nails. In the picture it looks turquoise/blue but in person it definitely has a fair amount of teal/green reflex which is so pretty. 'Tempted By Teal' is an almost identical colour with more of a green undertone which is currently on sale on my blog sale so if you like this then you will like that colour too!

I need to start getting more CNLs up but I keep forgetting when I change my nail colour, bad char!
